I am so excited you booked a session with me! I am passionate about providing images that stand the test of time, that stir the sould and capture the magic of a moment. These sessions are not your typical portrait session. It is my desire to create photographs that do more than serve as proof that you existed, I want to show that you lived passionately and loved madly.

My sessions are child-led, meaning there is no pressure for your child to perform. I want you to cuddle your baby, play with their hair, love on them and interact with one another.

I look forward to hanging out with one another. If you have any questions during this process, please fee free to reach out at any time!

Always, Caryn

  1. LET IT BE: We as mamas get so stressed about photo sessions and wanting our babies to be dressed just so and in happy moods. When it doesn’t happen, it seems to all fall apart, don’t let it. Sessions with me are child led. Just relax and roll with it and I promise we’ll have them back on track in no time. Some of the best images I have ever taken are when mama was consoling her sweet babe. So let it be, let it roll. After all, we are documenting the part of life we are in right now.

  2. BRING A DRINK + SNACK: If your child needs a break, let’s make that happen. Sessions with me aren’t made to push you through as fast as we can. Sometimes a snack and drink is all they need to get going again. I suggest staying away from snacks that will cover their face or their clothes (like chocolate). If you’re a breastfeeding or bottle feeding mama, we’ll make time for you.

  3. BE ON TIME: I know this goes without saying, but being on time is vital to the amount of images you will receive along with the flow of your session. I book our time together specific to the amount of beautiful light we have. If you are late for a sunset session, we are at the mercy of available light and your session may feel rushed or you may not have all of the images you had hoped for.

  4. BE PATIENT: If your sweet babe isn’t acting the way you had hoped, be patient. Many times when we become stressed, they feel it and ultimately makes matters worse. There is no pressure for your child to perform. If one area isn’t working out, we move. If they need a moment, we take it. I want to capture your child’s personality and love for life, which is why my sessions are child led. So don’t get frustrated, we’ll make the most of every moment.

  1. BOOKING AND SCHEDULING YOUR SESSION: If you’ve gotten to this point, you have already paid and secured your session date and time. You have already signed the contract and paid your retainer fee. All fees paid are non-refundable + non-transferrable.

  2. QUESTIONNAIRE: In this client area, you will find a link to fill out a questionnaire. This questionnaire is a huge part of capturing your session, relationships and moments. Getting to know a bit more about you and your family helps me document your story.

  3. SESSION DAY: Don’t let the getting ready part of your day set the mood for the rest of your time. As a mama myself, I know how stressful it is to not only get yourself ready but to make sure that all of your babies are dressed and ready and don’t get their clothes dirty before you arrive. On top of that we have to deal with a possible cranky baby. All will work out the way it’s suppose to be. Remaining calm and rolling with the events as they unfold will help your children and not make matters worse when the session begins.

  4. SNEAK PEAKS: Oh the anticipation!! Sneak peaks can happen a few different ways, on my Facebook page, and on my Instagram or Instagram stories.

  5. GALLERY: Within 3 -6 weeks, you will receive a link to your online gallery where you can view and download your images. You also have the option to purchase high quality prints from one of the top labs in the country!

  6. TESTIMONIAL: We LOVE receiving testimonials to share on our website. If you are willing to send us one, we’d love to include it on our site! You’ll find current testimonials under the “rant + raves” tab on our site.

  7. BLOG: Not every session ultimately lands on my blog, but if yours does, please feel free to share it with your friends and family!

I want to get to know your family + you and your significant other. I don’t just want you to be a client that I know nothing about except for the couple hours we hang out once a year. I want to stay in contact, get to know your family, hang out outside of our sessions, and watch your kids at some ball tournament. The best sessions I have ever done are with those who I’ve gotten to know prior to our session. When you know someone, you are better able to tell their story. If you are willing, I’d love for you to fill out the questionnaire below (click on the button). It truly makes a difference in how I photograph your family.

Upon booking a session with me, you are given access to my Facebook VIP group. It is here that I’ll post specials and discounts first. If specials are not filled here first, they will go out to the public. This will also be a place where I’ll share tips and tricks, session ideas, model calls and so much more. If you would like to be a part of this group, click on the link below and hit the button to join and I’ll get you accepted as soon as I can.

COORDINATE BUT DON’T GET TOO MATCHY! Find a color palette that you love and choose outfits that compliment each other without looking too matchy-matchy. We want everyone to look unique and portray their individual style. Opt for neutrals with a few pops of color or a softer palette that has different ranges in tone of the same shades. Stay away from ‘khaki pants and a white t-shirt’ for everyone or outfits that don’t allow personality.

We are creating a memory of your favorite day. I want you to choose clothing that reflects who you are as a person and makes you feel beautiful and confident. The following are my personal recommendations and I am happy to help you select the best clothing for your session!

For women and girls: long flowy dresses help create a feeling of movement and emotion in your images. Choose solid colors or timeless prints that compliment your skin tone. You can find amazing pieces at Free People, Lulu’s, Anthropology, ASOS, Forever 21 and Old Navy. I also highly recommend wearing your hair down for added impact in your images

For men and boys: T-shirt or V-neck T-shirt and button ups in solid neutral colors: white, black and blue or any earthy color and fitted shorts or pants.

For boys, you can spruce up their attire by adding some hip suspenders or a rad hat.

These are by no means rules, and if you have more eclectic tastes and love lots of color I encourage you to put as much of your personality into your clothing selection as possible! Don’t forget about accessories! I love rings, beautiful long necklaces and hats of every kind! With that said, I do suggest staying away from Neon colors and clothing items with words or logos across them. Creating timeless images is the ultimate goal.

A lot of my sessions take place at the beach, so if you’re comfortable being photographed in your bathing suit, PLEASE DO IT! In this way we are able to get two very different looks from the same session! With every beach session, it’s a pretty sure bet that you’re going to get wet. Bring a change of clothes and jump in the water and get a little dirty in the name of gorgeous images. I promise you won’t regret it!

As always, I’m here to help you every step of the way.

In a few months, this button below will be filled with location ideas (including pictures of the location and even some pictures of actual sessions held there) for you to choose from.
