“You gave me an outside view of my life & blessing in a way I’ve never seen them before. I am so grateful, you did an amazing job! "
- Jessica Hasse
Had I known it was the last time I’d ever have to rock my little girl to sleep, I would have taken a picture, and held on a bit longer. Had I known it was the last time she’d need me to help get her dressed, or brush her hair or cut up her food, I wouldn’t have rushed through the moment. You don’t realize how precious the simple, mundane, daily moments are until they stop. It’s the simple moments that happen throughout our daily routines that end up being the big moments of our lives, the most meaningful moments to us and the ones we love.
a list of ideas to get you thinking about the meaningful moments and places in your life. This list is constantly growing.

My style is different than most. I am a storytelling photographer, I shoot what it feels like rather than what it looks like. I want my images to make you feel something, to move you, to stir the soul. 90% of the session is unposed and unguided. I want to capture authentic moments, true personalities and the overflowing love that doesn’t appear in posed, formal portraits. My heart and soul goes into each and every session and I take great pride in providing you with timeless images. I want you to come to me because you love my style, because my work speak to you. Anyone can pick up a camera and start shooting, but not everyone can make you feel something. If my work moves you, let’s chat!
*Please note: I take on a very limited number of sessions in October and November during deer hunting season.

Please don’t go out and buy new clothes. Documentary sessions are about real life and that includes real clothes and your every day style (if that means sweatpants or yoga pants and an old t-shirt, then that’s what you wear - I’ll be wearing that when I show up too!). Absolutely do not match or where the exact same things.
Let your kids be themselves. These sessions are unlike any other. There are no formal poses or forced smiles or making them sit still or move from one location to the next. No bribing, no stress, no headache. If your babe has a meltdown, you just console and snuggle like you always do, because I’ll be capturing the REAL moments, and those moments happen. This is the good stuff.
Don’t race around cleaning your house. If you have five kids and your house is spotless, I’m going to call you out. You know damn well that your house is never clean with five kids, let’s just be real. So relax, I promise life will go on.
The location for your session is based on a location that is meaningful to your family. It is not just a pretty place you see once a year or just happened to drive by on your way home from work. Most of my sessions take place in and around the family home. Think: your home, grandmas house, the family cabin or lake house, the park you visit each week after lunch, your homeschool room, the walk to school. Think of your daily life and the locations that mean everything to you.
I don’t bring props or lights. Documentary photography is photography that doesn’t alter or change the scenery in any way.
