Have some questions?
Q: What does documentary mean? Do we have to pose? How do we act?
No posing. No bribing. No special matching outfits (please don’t match or buy new clothes). Sessions are unposed, unguided and don’t include outside props from me. I don’t alter the environment in any way. Don’t worry, I won’t just show up and leave you hanging. I’ll get you started and you’ll quickly realize the flow of a documentary session. You’ll forget it’s a photo session, we’ll be chatting like old friends and hanging out, my camera will be an after thought. Sometimes I sit back and capture the moments, sometimes I join in to make your kids feel a bit more relaxed and used to me while sneaking in pictures here and there.
Q: What kind of locations do you recommend?
The location is just as important as the moments we are creating. Most of my sessions take place in and around your home both indoors and out. The question really is; what location is the most meaningful to your family?
Q: What should we wear?
Clothes you already own. If your little girl wants to wear that favorite dress up Minnie Mouse dress she wore two halloweens ago that you can’t get off her, let her wear it. This is about capturing this special time in your life, and one day, you’ll miss the moments of her little dress up days.
Q: Do we have to clean our house?
Not at all! The only thing I recommend is that if you have something you do not want photographed, please put away.
Q: What if our child isn’t in the best mood or has a meltdown?
I want the authentic, pure and unfiltered personalities. Please don’t feel like you have to discipline (in fact that always makes it worse because then they get embarrassed because I’m there witnessing it). Kids are going to have moments, I have three daughters, drama is thick in my house. Please don’t be alarmed if I document those moments, they are some of the best, my heartfelt moments of the session.
Q: Can we have formal, posed portraits?
I spend about 5-10 minutes capturing a few traditional portraits for you to use for grandparents and Holiday cards etc. Please note: this is a very quick part of the session and the rest of the session is unposed.
Q: What do we need to put down?
35% of the session fee is paid to secure your date and time. Until this fee is paid, the date remains open for others. This fee is non-refundable and not transferrable. The remainder is due 2 weeks prior to your session. Failure to pay your session in full prior to the deadline will result in a cancelled session.
Q: Do you accept payment plans?
Yes, absolutely! I want everyone to experience this type of session, I promise it’ll change how you view each moment for the rest of your lives. If you need to make payments, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Q: What is a print release?
Each of my sessions include all final, edited images on digital download with print release. This release allows you to share your images on social media and make prints and products at a lab of your choice for personal use only. It does NOT release you to use the images in contests or publications. You must contact me for commercial or other uses outside of personal.
Q: What if we prefer to keep our images private?
For sessions, the model release adheres to a normal industry standard, which allows me to use the images for any reasonable purpose for things like my portfolio and marketing. That being said, if you would like me to refrain from using your real names or location, please let me know.
Q: What if I have to cancel?
Your session retainer serves as a non-refundable fee. If you should need to reschedule and can do so within 14 days of the original date, you will not need to pay a new retainer fee. You must give at least 24 notice of cancellation. If it’s less than 24 hours, all monies paid will be forfeited. I allow one reschedule. If you should need to reschedule a second time, an entire session fee must be paid again, and in full.
Q: When should we expect to see our images?
You will receive a link to your online gallery within 3-5 weeks. In many cases even a few days later depending on the time of year. Should you need a rush on your gallery, there is a rush fee that will apply.
